Fifty-one km east of Darjeeling and at an altitude of 1250 metres lies Kalimpong, the former headquarters of the Bhutanese Governor. The road is one of the most scenic routes in this part of the nation.The swift flowing Teesta river runs by the side of the road adding to the beauty of the scenery.
